Edmon Low Library, OSU-Stillwater

Access to O.S.U.-Stillwater Library’s monographs, reports and journals is accomplished by using the Library’s Online Public Catalog (OPAC). The catalog contains records for over 2.5 million print volumes in addition to links to electronic monographs, online government documents and journals. The catalog is available to anyone but access to electronic journal contents subscribed to by the Library is limited to computers within a specific IP range encompassing the O.S.U.-Stillwater campus. Access to electronic journal contents by O.S.U. students, faculty and staff from off-campus can be accomplished by logging onto the EZ Proxy server.

The O.S.U. Library has several subject specific databases that focus on information security and computer science. The Library’s databases are listed alphabetically and are grouped by subject at the Library’s website for easier access. IEL, an electronic database of IEEE full text journals and conference proceedings dating back to 1988 and the ACM Digital Library database, containing full text journals and conference proceedings from the Association of Computing Machinery from 1991, are specifically relevant for information security research and issues. The Library subscribes to many business databases, e.g. ABI/Inform and Business Source Elite, which again offers access to full text journal and magazine articles. Both ABI/Inform and Business Source Elite have full-text coverage for over 2,100 business and economic journals, magazines and newspapers.

Any magazine or journal article not available in print or electronic format from the O.S.U. Library can be requested from InterLibrary Services (ILS). A request form can be completed online and sent electronically to ILS. When the material is located at another library, a PDF copy of the article is sent to the requestor via email. Monographs and conference proceedings that are not available from the Library can also be requested from InterLibrary Services.

Book titles are constantly being purchased by the O.S.U. Library. Each librarian has a book budget for specific subject areas. Books related to information security, or any other subject, can be requested electronically by any faculty member or student. The request is forwarded to a subject liaison librarian and can be ordered immediately. Steven Locy, Assoc. Prof., has agreed to be the librarian contact for security reference material for CTANS. In fiscal year 2003-2004 Mr. Locy had a budget of $8,000 for monographs specifically related to telecommunications. Mr. Locy also orders books for economics, business, agricultural economics and marketing.
